Roosevelt and Cleveland students headed to DC to salute Obama

"Two SLPS high schools will represent Missouri at the inaugural activities of Barack Obama in January. The inaugural committee of the President-elect selected the Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard and Drill Team from Roosevelt High School to be in the parade. Marine Master Sergeant (Ret.) Isaiah McHellen, the group’s commander and senior military instructor, says the 23-member group is raising funds to pay for the trip to Washington. Meanwhile, four cadets from the Cleveland Naval JROTC, will attend the historic inaugural ceremony along with Mrs. Deborah Schmidt, a teacher. The school thanks the generosity of Congressman Russ Carnahan, who provided the tickets." Source: SLPS Spotlight News, December 12, 2008.

Our Comment: Kudos to Cleveland Naval JROTC and Roosevelt High School Marine Corps JROTC Color Guard and Drill Team. Something wonderful is definitely happening in St. Louis Public Schools. The Special administrative Board just announced the implementation of "The Comprehensive Long Range Plan". The Superintendent and his team will be shooting for the stars. Stay tuned to this blog for latest positive development coming out of SLPS.
